My heart does this too. I went to the Dr. and was put on a heart monitor for 30 days. It turned out that I have Pre-ventricular contractions (PVC's) and Pre-atrial contractions (PAC's). It's just an extra little beat just before the actual heartbeat. It's very unsettling when it happens, but my heart Dr. said that it's benign and won't cause any problems. Some people just have them. I ended up being put on medicine to calm them down and it works nicely. I only have it a few times a month now. A friend of mine has hundreds of them a day and can't tolerate the medicine so she has to live with it. In any case, I trip to the doctor is recommended to make sure it's not something more serious. Good luck!!! :)

you could be the victim of an irregular heart beat. it can, and should be treated asap. see a cardiologist, who will make an official diagnosis. if, indeed, it is irregular heart beat, your doctor may order a drug in the beta-blocker family. beta-blockers serve to regulate the rate at which the heart beats.
good luck!
