I can't remember much about the film...but i remember one bit where people were buyin pictures of things (i specifically remember a ps1) and when the pictures were burnt they passed to the other side so people could buy the pictures burn them and then their dead realatives would get the gift.

i think there was a detective/police officer in it and he gets killed but then carries on trying to solve the case as a ghost but only his partner can see him i think it could be set in Hong Kong (but i'm really not sure about this bit)

Wow, I don't have any clue. If it had a PS1 it must be a movie from about 8 years ago.
It sounds like a Twilight Zone episode I once saw. But, that was before PS1s were around.
I hope you are able to find out. Or if you provide a little more detail, that may help.

The burning of things to pass on to the dead sounds like it would be Chinese (which of course includes Taiwan and Hong Kong - incase there are any Chinese people reading!) or Japanese, as they have traditional rituals based on this concept.
I haven't a clue what the film is though. Sorry.
