I personally believe this to be true. Kids who have parents that dont believe in spanking have a tendency to "get away with" things when they misbehave . Now, this doesnt mean that you have to spank a child every time they do something wrong. Tone of voice is everything. For ex., if a child is running around in the supermarket, you can speak to them with a clear, deep authoritive voice and say "Excuse me, but do you think that is proper behavior?" Or, as many parents have a tendency to do, say,"Will you please behave??" and sound whining, almost pleading. A child picks up on that. You cant "ask" a child to behave, he/she must be "told".

I don´t think so! A child should never be spanked. You may not bruise their skin but you will bruise their soul. We, adults, parents, teachers, etc., should learn how to educate them in such a way that they will grow up to become happy and resolved young people and adults. There should be a course to teach this. I´ve watched a very interesting program on TV, a BBC program called "The Nanny". This lady, specialized in raising children, would go to a home where there would be extremely difficult discipline problems. She would always solve the problems without spanking the children. Most, but really most, of the problems she met came from the parents! There are a few, but very few, verses in the Bible that speaks about "disciplining a child with a rod", but I strongly believe that it is a misinterpretation. Give children love, give children fair limits, but, most of all, give children EXAMPLE, and you will have no problem.

it is not a question of being spanked but rather being taught to respect others in the first place. There are many ways to achieve this goal without spanking the child. One of the greatest way is to teach them by example. If you show respect to others then more than likely your children will do the same as they get older

I don' t think so... being respectful has nothing to do with being spanked as a child. Respect is something learned from parents. You don't need to be hit to learn that.

Yes, in our case it does..when they do overly misbehave, there must always be a way to control and spanking is just right for us.
