There will be a fund set up. If you go to the Animal Planet website... then to The Croc Hunter page the CEO discovery posted a statement giving his condolences and also stating they want to set up a "Crikey Foundation" in Steve's name. The money will be used to help conservation work in his name as well as money for Bindi and Bob to go to college on

i will never forget the image of steve irwin talking to the camera while sharks were in a feeding frenzy all around him while he stood in the water...the guy was a crazy kook but he was fascinating, funny and very entertaining...i kind of felt one day his luck would run out the way he took risks dealing with wildlife but i would never have guessed it would take a stingray to be the culprit....my condolences to his friends and family....he was one of a kind and his legacy will continue as his shows run on animal planet

I just found out that he had a sting-ray in his hand and the tail had stung him and put a hole through his heart. I thought it was very sad and I am going to miss him very much and a lot of other people will too. I watched his show almost every time it came on. If I missed an episode; I would catch it later as a re-run. It really made me sad today and I have never done that with a celebrity. Even my children were upset. He was also a good dad, and a wonderful husband. He loved his friends and they seemed to love him also. He was a man who kept his (word) and never backed down from doing what he loved best, catching crocodile's!!!!! He will be missed and we need to pray for the people closest to him, his wife and his little girl! It truly has saddened a lot of people.

Its very sad what happen to him. He died doing what he loved to do. As none of us actually knew him personally, he seemed like a very kind hearted person, who knew his passion and lived it until the end. Its going to be very differant for the zoo in Australia where he worked also for citizens of the country who followed his programs etc.. Rest In Peace Steve Irwin

Yes it is very sad that Steve passed away, however, I am glad that he passed away doing something that he loves ~ working with animals.
He was a great ambassador for conserving wildlife and our planet.
Did anyone see him in Wiggles Safari? That was a great show for the children to learn about Australia's animals.

I was just getting ready to ask a question on Yahoo Answers about Steve! A great loss. Actually I am not surprised this happened because Steve lived life to the fullest and always on the edge, taking chances to bring us the best information on the animal kingdom that we should all respect and preserve. I will miss this guy!!

I just came back from camping today, when at 5:00 in the morning my mom told me what happened to him. I am surprised that such a normally calm animal did this. Like you said, thank god it wasn't a crocodile. That would have been ironic. :-| Well, I grew up with his shows and stuff, he's always been an insperation, and I idolize all of his shows too. His poor kids though. I can't imagine what their going through. :,-[ I am going to miss him.

His death is a very sad tragedy. Who knows what he could've done and discovered in wildlife if he was still here. He was a wonderful person and died doing what he loved. He's taught us so much about animals it's unbelieveable.
R.I.P Crocodile Hunter
You were truly the best!
