For an average weight woman it's recommended to gain 30 pounds. Even if you're overweight, they still recommend gaining at least 25 pounds. You DO need to gain weight. The baby-obviously, fluids, maternal blood, maternal fat stores, etc. Loosing weight is not an option until after the delivery.

They dont allow you to lose weight while pregnant. What you do want to do it make sure you're not gaining more weight. You will naturally spend more calories now that you're pregnant.

Youc an start walking every day, up to a couple miles a day. That will help you burn more. No heavy grueling exercises though. No weight training.

If you're 20 lbs over weight you can plan to gain another 15 at the most if you can help it.

Just make sure to eat well, and eat enough for what you and the baby need. Worry about losing the weight after. Its all about nutrition right now, since the baby needs to grow and can only get those things from you. And if you're losing weight by dieting there is a chance that the baby wont get what it needs to grow and be strong and healthy.

Your doctor will be able to point you in the right direction for managing your weight while pregnant, and how to get in shape and avoid gaining what you dont HAVE to.

You could actually loose a lot of weight during pregnancy because the baby increases your metabolic rate and you don't necessarily get more hungry. Unfortunately most people feel less active because of the bloating and joint pain, plus a sense of entitlement that you should be allowed to eat more since you're eating for the baby also (however small), plus feeling depressed because your body image has changed, suddenly your seeking comfort in the arms of hogendaze.. most women put on about 10-20 lbs per child.

Then there's breast feeding.. once again this should help you, but once again...

The most important thing you need to remember is this is not a time to lose weight, scratch that idea. Get it out of your head. This prenancy is for the beginning of another humans beings life and its only for 9 months. You have the rest of your life to be beautiful.

The best way to eat during pregnancy is how you should eat any other time in your life.

lean meats , veggies, whole grains. A good moderate fat, complex carbohydrate, Protein packed diet.

By all means take a good prenatal vitamin

Don't go on a diet....but don't eat like really salty foods or junk. Eat more whole grains and drink lots of water. Try to eat really healthy....this will help you when you have the baby. It will make it easier to loose it then.
