which one is more important to you?

If your husband really loves you, he would never put you on the spot in a situation like that where you have to decide between the two.

In the same way, I don't think a loving parent would ever force a child to make a such a choice unless there is a valid reason for that. (such as you are blinded by love). Sometimes they would say that you have to choose at the heat of an argument for example but they don't mean it from the bottom of their heart.

I would say its like asking: "What is more important, Hands or legs?"

Practically, we depend on parents when we grow up and we could feel that we don't need them anymore after we team up with a spouse to continue our lives. But try to imagine yourself in the same situation and imagine how you would feel if your children treated you like that.

Also note that unlike in western cultures where parents take a back seat once you can do without them, in some other parts of the world (such as Asia) it is taken fore granted that the children take care of their parents when they grow up and they still do!

That is a tough one. Years ago I was in an interracial relationship. I truly loved the guy, we had been good friends. At the time, I felt that I needed my family more and now that I look back, years of being so unhappy, I now look back and surely wish I had chosen the happiness over my family. Not my entire family rather my father. My father is a very prejudiced man and being 18 I thought I needed my fathers approval more over than a relationship with a guy. Recently this guy has come back into my life and I finally told him how stupid I was all those years ago, don't get me wrong, I love my husband but these feelings of love came back very suddenly. It is making me question my love for my husband more and more every day. I know I have to stick with my marriage. All I know is that I am just thankful that I have this person as a friend.

My parents are dead, my husband isn´t. So... But, really, the kind of love is different. Loving a husband includes, for example, erotic love. And LOVE is such an infinite thing that the more you give, the more you get! Now, if you were, for example, to choose between being with your parents or with your husband, you stay with your husband and visit your parents. If you really love them (parents and husband) you they won´t feel neglected. Something I´ve learned through all these years: The more people you love, the more you are loved, the more you are happier. O. K.?

When you take a spouse, that person is foremost the most important to you. You took a vow to bond with them.

There are different kinds of love. You dont have to love one over the other. I learned that the day I had my second child. I thought I would love them the same, equally. No it is different. If they were in danger, I could not pick one over the other. But my love for each are very different. My little guy is three and he tickles my sole, he makes me very happy. My thirteen year old daughter touches my sole, she is very sweet and knows the real meaning of love

My parents are always there for me and I could never love anyone else the way that I love them. A love for a child is unconditional. You may not always feel their love, but they are always there if you fall.

Just realize that you are blessed with both and you dont have to choose.

Every one loves people differently. When you break up and meet someone new. You never love the same way you did with the ex. That's because you are two different people.
I would love to say that marriage is forever. But it doesn't always work that way. I loved my husband in my own way. But your family is your family. Most of the time there for you, through thick and thin.

They're totally different kinds of love so I can't choose that way!

My parents brought me into this world, sacrificed for me and have continually given their love and support no matter what I do. They're my best advisors, and when all others (including past husbands) have let me down or disappeared from my life, they never have.

My husband is the man who supports me, my friend and lover, the man who cares for me when I am sick and who I trust to share my life and dreams with me.

They are both important to me in very unique and different ways. I could never choose who I love more.

Your parents always only want the best for you (and to control you a bit). Your husband always wants whats best for the two of you as a unit. You can't pick one over the other because it's just so different. Like picking between two of your children or between two of your favorite outfits. Both have their own qualities and bring something very different to your life.

NO ONE should be asking you to make that choice. If they are ask them what your happiness means to them.

I don't love one more than the other, but I my relationship with my husband takes presidence over my relationship with my parents. That's not a bad thing, the Bible tells us in Mark 10:7 "For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and shall cling to his wife," and that applies to women to.

You should love them all. The husband should come first in your life, but there should be plenty of room for your parents.
