There are many reasons for bad breathe. The diet, gum disease, cavities, poor dental hygiene, and so on. I think, you need to have a talk with the individual privately, one on one. If he listens he will thank you later for better health in the long run. Gently, very gently because it is a touchy subject explain it to him. Get some books on dentistry to help support your explanation with pictures. Discuss flossing. Maybe he can't afford to go to the dentist. Tell him that some teaching dental colleges which take in patients for a small fee. Dental problems are better fixed sooner than later. Good luck. Remember be very, very gentle when you talk to him about it.

Tell him to floss. People don't make the connection between bad breath and failing to floss. This is almost always the case with people with chronic bad breath. And why wouldn't it? If the food inbetween your teeth doesn't get cleaned out, than they become bacteria farms and bacteria stinks.

Tell them. Bad breath could be a sign of more serious internal problems if they are usually stringent in their oral hygiene.
If they've had it a while they will probably not be aware of it so tell them - gently!
Wouldn't you want to know if you were breathing toilet breath on to your friends???

yup ,keep the gum at hand. if he /she does not take the hint , then tell him/her as a friend that you have noticed thier foul breathe. be sympathetic about it , by saying that it can be for a variety of reasons, maybe tell him of someone at school who hadd it and how they were teassed. this would suggest that you are not being cruel but helpful.

Get him a lifeguard position in your local swimming pool. He'll resusitate any drowning victims just by placing his mouth near theirs!
That'll keep him busy at the pool and away from you more often!
