The world in general would be very different without him. He does a huge amount of philanthropic work through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

I am an avid Linux user, I don't like the way Microsoft appears to overcharge, bully and do all the other things a monopoly does. I have to say when all is said and done, if it wasn't for Bill Gates and the people who founded Microsoft with him, we would probably be years behind in home computing. Windows is designed and has been since windows 98 for people who are not necessarily very computer literate, which in a way is a good thing, as it has made computing accessible and popular. So good luck to Bill & Co, I don't begrudge him 1 cent of his fortune, but sincerely hope Linux gains in popularity enough to bring Microsoft to heel.
As for getting arrested, so what, it happens, especially when you are young.
Maybe he should be run in for writing dodgy software.
