If you are going to be doing a lot of work with music, ie creating mixing etc then go for Creatives Audigy range or even the best TeraaTec card. If it is just for general day to day use then by anything that is really cheap.

The reason i know little abt sound cards is because u shouldnt waste ur money on them. Save ur money and buy a better graphics card wich matters a lot more. Unless all u do is listen to music on ur PC, and then u could just get an MP3 player for the same price.

you can buy a very good creative sound card for less than £30 from dabs,like the sounblaster audigy,but the best card is probally the sounblaster x-fi elite pro.... a good investment if you have a spare £220

within budget, audigy pro or the creative family. most mobos have 5:1 on board as standard these days. some with 7:1. the technology is improving all the time and prices keep dropping
