Larry has answered your question. I'm not sure if you know what you are doing otherwise. What breakers are going in your "GFCI loadcenter"? What is the wiring method from the loadcenter to the spa? Is the spa outdoors? How far away from the spa is the nearest 120V receptacle?

To begin with, I wouldn't use schedule 40 pipe. I'd either use PVC pipe or underground wire. Refer to your local code. The smallest size conduit allowed for 4 - #8's is 3/4. Don't forget to bury it to the specified depth. Again refer to your local code.

Use 3/4" sch40 pipe, you will need sch80 pipe where it comes out of the ground and is exposed. It will need to be buried 18". (that is NEC specs)
