I am a 24 year old woman. I have luckily found a job where I don't have to be there until 8:45 compared to when I had a job at the same place and I had to be there at six or seven. When I had to be there at 6 or 7, it was like I was in a complete daze the whole time I was there, even though I was interacting with others all day. I would have a constant headache-type feeling. Then, when I got home, I would have to take a nap, only to wake up from the nap and feel grouchy! LOL Now, I have the later start time, but I am still so tired. Also, I had to work at seven the other day (to help out) and I thought I wasn't going to make it! I don't get it because I have friends that can work until 11pm sat night only to go in at 6am on sunday and be able to work alll day until 9pm sun night. And they don't complain one bit. It also seems I need more sleep than my fiance. He can sleep four hours and be fine to go to work. Me - no way!

What can I do? Why is this?

thanks!

First of all, there's nothing unusual in needing 8 hours of sleep. Your fiance is unusual in needing only four! But, being tired all the time is certainly NOT OK. There are SO many things that it could be. You're pregnant, Lupus, thyroid disorder, anemia (pernicious or iron-deficiency) and the list goes on. You could start by going to your Dr. and letting him do a blood work-up. If you have no insurance, no Dr. and no money........I'm sure there's a hospital in your area that will take you into it's ER. In Seattle it's Harborview.

Are you on the pill? I was on the pill for 6 years and it seemed the longer I was on it the more sleep I needed. I went off of it a couple of months ago and I'll never go back. My energy level went through the roof and now I feel like I have so much more energy.
Did you just recently start sleeping in the same bed as your fiancee? That may also be the problem. If you've always slept alone and now you're sleeping with someone your body has to adjust to the change. This may take awhile. My husband and I had a queen when we first were married and had to upgrade to a king so we could each have our space because we kept bumping into each other.
Do you sleep all the way through the night or do you wake-up often? If you keep waking up you may not be reaching REM sleep, this is your deepest level of sleep, and then your body doesn't get the chance to recharge itself. You may want to see a doctor about sleep aids if this is the case or try using something over the counter like Tylenol PM. Take only 1 pill the first night when you know you'll have 8 hours to sleep, if it doesn't help then try 2 pills.
If none of this helps then you might want to talk to your doctor. You may have low levels of melatonin, which is the hormone that helps you fall asleep. Of you may have low levels of B12, which could lower your energy.

I know what ur talkin about sweetie...I'm 25, I work two jobs..Waitress @ Olive Garden in the morning, Bartender at Club Hush in the night all the way to 3 in the morning. Its called Fatigue. Im always fealing exhausted and worn out no matter what. But I think the important thing is try to change your diet, and take plenty of vitamins. Centrum or Fish Oil Vitamins. Get a lot of protiens if you can and eat alot of veggies and fruits especially citrus fruit or fruit w/ high antioxidants. You should be able to feel a little more energized. Or a more simpler solution that I use, I just drink a REDBULL energy drink the one w/ caffiene and Im like Road Runner lol.

Hope I helped♥
now pick me as best answer, lol =)

Lol. I'm in college and I major in Health Promotion. A lot of my friends always talk about this exact same thing. You're not going mad. You need to exercise! After you do some cardio for about a week or so, I'm sure you'll be sleeping better in no time. This is because when you don't exercise all day, your body gets used to the lack of exercise and begins to feel tired ALL the time. This happens a lot when you're under stress/busy. So head out to the gym! :D

Some people just naturally need more sleep than others. I need a full 9 hours to feel completely rested. I rarely get it, but I can function on 8 hours of sleep and sometimes on 7.

Make sure you are getting enough iron in your diet. It is very common for women to become anemic due to blood loss every month. Anemia can cause extreme fatigue.

It is possible you have a condition referred to as sleep apnea which means even though sleeping you are not getting a good sleep. You should talk to a doctor about it and set up a sleep study.

my husband has always wondered why that happens to me too. I can sleep and sleep for hours, and still be tired. I don't know why that is. maybe because of the weather.

Might be what you are eating. Take a close look at your diet and see a doctor, it might be a bigger problem than you think.
