It would depend on your processor. If you have a powerful processor the rams wouldn't be vary noticeable. Maybe if you were starting up an application with lots of files, etc. then maybe the time difference to start up the application with 1 gig and 2 gig rams would be by a few seconds. So it wouldn't be vary noticeable.

This really depends on the rest of your system. If you add a gig of ram to a system that has a 500 mHz processor, you won't notice much because the bottle neck is not your ram but your processor. However, if you have a 2.4 gHz processor or better you will probably notice some small improvements, especially if you use ram intensive programs (graphic editing, games, etc.)

Your computer will use as much RAM as it needs, and the more the better. But if your processor is slow, the amount of RAM won't make too much of a difference. Also, whether or not your processor has cache and how much will also make a big difference.
Check the specs on your motherboard to make sure it can handle over 1 Gig of RAM. If it can't, you're wasting money. Good luck!

Depends on what you're doing. Most people aren't going to notice much - if any - improvement going from 1 to 2 gigs. Nothing like the dramatic boost in performance you see going from say, 128 megs to 256, or from 256 to 512. There's a definite "sweet spot" in adding memory, and going from 1 to 2 gigs ain't it for most of us.

What you have to know is how much of your RAM you are using right now. You can check this by looking at the Task Manager and checking the amount of physical memory being used. For example I have 1 GByte of memory, but only use about 400 MByte. So anything more then 400 MByte will not make a difference. Different programs use different amounts of memory though - so you may need more memory at another time.

Only reason to get 2GB is if u would like to play the newest games on the highest settings possible and for that u would also require a 300$+ graphics card and matching CPU.

It wouldn't be that noticable. It really depends on what you do with your computer, though. If you just do surfing, e-mail, small games, etc. then it would definitely not be noticable.
