I expect the Dems to repeal the Bush tax cuts, especially the Estate and Capital Gains cuts.
I expect them to pass strong environmental legislation.
I expect funding for alternative energy development.
I expect education funding not education vouchers and educational burdens.
I expect not that the President will be impeached but that there will be stronger Constitutional oversight of Executive activities so that illegal policies like warrantless wiretapping do not occur.
I expect a raise in the minimum wage.

That was well put ......
I am not American but i think the Dems need to rethink there strategy as they come across weak without substance and nothing better to show going into the voting season,.
If they do get in maybe do some good and show they are a party of action! change some laws that don't allow so many deaths by guns etc, do something tangible that the people can see is necessary not just party politics.
If they want to be running the country again, become a party again all singing the same tunes, use the win (if it happens) of the house and don't waste a great boost

If, God forbid, the dems take the senate and the house it will be a return to higher taxes and them more higher taxes. Then they will hand out money to all those too f****n lazy to go out and get a job. And then they will raise taxes again because they didn't take enough the first and second times. Of course we really don't know what they will do as the haven't put forth a new idea since JFK. They really won't know what to do except for blame Bush. That is the only thing they are good at. And raise your taxes yet again.

I have no Idea, but could it be any worse off then it is now? I can tell you what I think will happen before Bush goes out of office though, did you know why the gas prices are going down now? well its because the Holiday christmas is coming so they are going to raise the prices of things in stores to off set the price of gas going down. ever notice how Bush and Blair are together so often, don`t you think its odd that the last terror threat came from the same place Blair is from, I read something on net that said this was a plot, and that they would hit the USA again before OCT, so that would give Bush another reason to go to Iran, and that its all about oil, If Ladin hit the twin towers, why is everything about Iraq, hardly ever do you hear anything on Bin Ladin. I find this so odd, not only that how on earth did the USA who are suppose to so smart, ever have an election that was so screwed up when he got in the whitehouse, in the first place?

Impeach? Forget it - its not their style to impeach for things like getting a hummer from an intern. if they didn't impeach Ronnie for dealing drugs on the LA streets or selling arms to Iran to fund a splinter organization outside of mainstream government control, they won't impeach GW.
However, the same can't be said of his colleagues and staff. Expect the laxations in the house and senate ethics rules to end, and the stricter standards to be reinstated.
There may be a repeal of the capital gains tax cut. There may be a repeal of the inheritance tax cut. There will definitely be a repeal of the tax cut on corporate dividends.
Expect most of the tax cuts, credits, give aways, and similar corporate welfare to be repealed.
Do not expect the individual tax cuts to be repealed and fiscal responsibility to be reinstated - real fiscal responsibility, not the "it will be balanced in 4 to 5 years" scenarios we have been told every year for the last 6 years.
Expect some hearings on Iraq and some attempts at accountability, but not much more. Direct action is for the most part outside the control of the house and senate.
Expect a reinstatement of most of the environmental laws that were laxed.
Expect tax incentives for alternative energy. Expect a return of fuel standards.

they may want to, but it's sort of unlikely given the alternative that we would be left with. If you impeach Bush,,, you get cheney .. not such a good option from a dem standpoint.
as for what they would do with the power? possibly raise minimum wage, likely pass funding for stem cell research, begin pull out from iraq on some timeline (certainly not immediate).
you have to keep in mind that the goal would be 2008, so there would be a great deal of trepidation in coming out too liberal

Not anything to impeach Bush for. Just as there was not anything for Clinton.
It's just a power thing to appease the 35% of the country that is partisan to dems, and piss off the 35% that is partisan to the repubs.
Stay non-affiliated and you make a difference, but 70% are sheep to one shepherd or another.

As well as going after the terrorists the Democratic party is concerned with the growing gap between the haves and have not. Health care for everyone is a big issue. Education has always been a big issue.
I would suggest you go to the DNC website and read.

It's not going to happen so I don't expect dems to do anything more than what they have been doing for 6 years, obstruct.

It'll probably just be a rerun of what happened last time in that situation, our magnificent deficit will start to shrink back down to meaningless levels, nobody will be listening to our phone conversations anymore, and the whole 'gay marriage' & 'flag-burning' things (without a doubt, today's most pressing issues, LOL) will vanish. Then where will we be?
