"Borrow" a ring from her without her knowing and bring it to the shop. Or you can just buy her an inexpensive ring for the opposite ring finger with her there and pay attention to what ring size she says she is.

Does the lucky girl have any other rings? If she wears one on her middle finger, try playing with her hand then take it off and try it on your fingers. But know that her ring finger should be a little bit smaller. If she does wear alot of rings, borrow one with out telling her for an afternoon and take it to you jewler. Also, pick a ring style that can be resized. even if it fits her perfectly right now, when she gets older she might loose/gain weight and need it resized. Also, since you she wants to get married, make sure that she will like the ring that you are picking out for her. Start pointing out rings on other people to see her reactions. Hope I helped and good luck!

Does she already have any rings that you know fit her well? If so, take one of her rings when she's not wearing it, and you can either take it to the jewelry store and have them tell you what size, or you could buy a finger ring size chart and compare, or even take a piece of string and cut it to the length of the circumference of the ring and then find out the ring size that goes with that circumference.

Take her out on a romantic date. Start with a morning walk in a park, followed by croissants and cappucinos in a street cafe, a little window shopping in some cute boutiques, to finally end up in a jewelery store. You don't need to buy it then and there of course! But it will give you the chance not only to figure out her ring size, but also her taste of ring. Good luck and to a happy future together!

If she currently wears a ring on her ring finger, then when she takes it off to shower or something, you can grab it, and trace it with a pencil on a piece of paper. If she wears a ring on her right hand ring finger, do the same thing but just go slightly smaller since her non-dominant hand finger will be a bit smaller.

Don't worry about it too much. You can get a ring, and if it doesn't fit her, you take it to be sized after you propose.
HOWEVER, most bride-to-be's would like to pick out their own ring! So it's hard to do the kneeling-proposal-giving ring thing these days. You have to be sure of her tastes in jewelry. I've seen questions from girls who HATE the ring their fiance picked out!

welll my husband asked my roomate for one of my rings I wore -- of course i couldn't find it for a while, and i was paniced..but by the time that big rock came around I didn't care!!! However, I did hear (from my best girlfriend) that her fiance waited until she went to sleep, took a thin strip of paper and wraped it around her finger and marked it... then he took it into the store for the ring... they still have that little paper... its kinda cute. good luck! (make sure you get the right kind of diamond shape for her fingers. If they are short, there are certain styles, if the fingers are long, there are certain styles, if there is little or a lot of space between the knuckles, there are certain styles... good luck!)

I bet you'll get really cool answers to this one.
Take her shopping and peer into a regular jewelry case....(Not in a fancy jewelry store...Walmart or something). You could tell her you're looking for a money clip for your parent for Christmas or something. You could see a man's ring that you like and want to try it on for fun....and ask the lady behind the counter what size it is....then let her try some on too....and ask her what size she wears (out of curiousity only)....hehe......all I could think of....

Have one of her girlfriends bring her out for a day of shopping, and have them try on rings for fun, and have her friend report the size back to you! Simple as pie!
