Today Christmas is nothing more then a commercialized money grabbing attempt by the retailers to make mega money on the backs of the poor working class..... I myself have not fallen into that trap since I truly remember why we celebrate and gift giving is held to a minimum, we celebrate with family and friends..we give of ourselves instead of receiving.....if we all changed our view's and and stopped trying to buy the love of your family we might be able to actually save Christmas and return it to its former glory of sharing with family and friends and not so much about presents and all that shinny wrapping...

Why should they?

They started having Christmas stuff out by August.

If you ban it, you're taking away the right to celebrate and sell. While it may annoy the heck out of you, sorry to say it's their right. When it's that time of year, pop in a CD and avoid the radio, since it really annoys you that much. Banning the promotions of a holiday because the ads upset you is a terrible reason to ban it for the rest of us. Glad you're not in politics!

To me it's hard to think of Christmas when it's still summer time... I like the weather to be cool enough to at least wear a sweater or long sleeves.
I love Christmas time, but we don't need to make it all about retail.

doubt if this would work in a free enterprise system as the retail market would be under more government control. however, when i was a manager i insisted there be nothing done about CHRISTMAS until after THANKSGIVING as we all have much to be thankful for.

Well, considering Americans don't really recognise Christmas for what it truly is, why wouldn't they make this "season" of $$$$$$$ from lasting a disgustingly long time?
