Their studying still.
In a magazine, it saids, there are so far algae, alien invasion, red chemicals that is still unknwon. Yea, that popuar science one that the person above said... We must have read the same article.
The cause of red rain is below in my wikipedia link and wiki highlite bullets.
Their saying, they are going to try sticking to it and finding info seeing if it is related to some things, like global warming, and human life. And ....alien life...
There is an online article similar in wikipedia.

Short highlites from wikipedia^^
-=-The cause from Red Rain is from Algae, which were grouwn into lichen-forming algae of the Trentepohlia genus
-=-Another theory is that the rain contained mammalian blood, a large flock of bats having been killed at high altitude, perhaps by a meteor. - Direct words from wiki
-=-And besides red,Yellow, green, and black rains were also there.
-=-There where grey burnt leaves from the rain.
-=-Two scientist has discovered there are organic material and biological cells. Organic means living, there are signs of living material.
-=-The Scientist say there are microbes of extraterrestrial origin.
-=-Louis and Kumar's analysis found that the red particles were typically 4 to 10 µm across, spherical or oval in shape, and similar in appearance to unicellular organisms.
Unicellular cells are A microorganism or microbe is an organism that is microscopic (too small to be visible to the naked eye). Microorganisms are often described as single-celled, or unicellular organisms; however, some unicellular protists are visible to the naked eye, and some multicellular species are microscopic. The study of microorganisms is called microbiology., - Direct words from wiki
-=-After first red rain, ther was a sonic boom- a shock of air waves.
-=-If the particles are biological in nature and did originate in a comet, it would be the first evidence in favour of the theory of panspermia, - Direct words from Wiki
-=-The highest known survivable temperature has been 130°C. but these red rains can survive over 300°C

no one knows for certain.... Scientists are studying it at the moment, and answers will range from alien microbes that hitched a ride on a comet, to a meteroite smashing flocks of bats. The most pressing issue is that the "organic" red cells contain no DNA. every living substance needs DNA, so this makes it a novel discovery.
What i think it is, is a building block of life. Some sort of low-level pre-cursor to life.

I read an article in popular science that these could be extraterrestrials.Their is evidence for this.Thy can survive must higher temperatures than cells on earth can, they don't have the same chemicals in them as earth cells do,and initial testing concluded that they have no DNA.Every living thing we no of contains DNA,so if it acts just like a cell but has no DNA,it will definitely be unique
