From mainframe via mini computer to PC and PDA.
From printed newspapers via TV, video & DVD, to Weblogs & video-on-demand.
From mega Corp to outsourcing, off-shore, and near-shore.
What will be the next technology and business paradigm shifts, and how do you ensure you get a piece of the action?

Be up on your reading in the science magazines, talk with people about what they would be buying if they had the cash, find out what's scheduled to be sold in stores in the coming months (like the Nintendo Wii in November). Please share your financial $$$ success with the person whose advice was most helpful.

I'm betting ... no, hoping ... the next 'big thing' will be a total rejection of 'new' technology. The stuff we have now - mp3 players, computers, appliances - all suit our needs today and then some. At some point, people are going to turn their backs on companies that try to sell us the 'next big thing' simply because it's the 'next big thing'.
For example, Microsoft has for years been working out the bugs on XP, and now that it's finally stable, they want to thrust something new on us?!? I'm willing to bet there will be a sizeable number of people who will say 'forget it, Microsoft' and stick with XP.
Here's hoping.

severe potential "tactical" shotguns. everywhere you look, there is a few plastic mind-blowing shotgun with a 10 around tube slapped on it. KelTec has their new 14 around bullpup tacticool shotgun. Saiga has had a rabid following of their shotguns for as long as i will remember. Now recently it variety of feels everybody and their brother needs a severe potential wrestle shotgun for domicile safety. meanwhile, i've got had the comparable Remington 870, wood shares and blue metallic, 18" police barrel 12 gauge for a decade and have in no way as quickly as felt undergunned with it.
