Because they (right wing politicians) brain wash people into thinking they care about so called family values: especially abortion and gay marriage (these are Republicans in my view). But in reality they are bought out by big health insurance companies who contribute to their campaigns.

This goes back to the fundimental rights accorded to all citisens of the U.S. The right of self determination and the freedom to be responsible for your health and well being. Not depending on the golden nipple of government to take care of you. This is the main difference between liberals and conservatives. Liberals are tipically or lean heavily towards one of the following- secular, humanist or Darwinist . Conservatives are tipically or lean hevily towards- religious/constitutionalism/ inteligent design.
For the liberal socialism, state welfare with re-distributed wealth is the ultimate goal while for the conservative, capitalism, wealth and freedom under the constitution is the goal.
The "family value bunch" are generally conservative and resent the governments attempts to use their money to pay for the masses welfare. This same general group also decies the use of the public financing of schools that teach only Darwinism and radical environmentalism with no balance from the intellegent design side. It can also be said that the the FVB is irritated by the
constant drive by liberals for more power over what children are taught through the revision of history in school tet books, not to mention the NEA's (union) contantly drive for higher wages while test scores across the board continue to fall. This is just touching the surface but I think it gets the gist across.
What would you prefer?
Secular/socialistic/ humanist/
environmental/darwinism
or
Constitutional/capitalistic/
industrial/intellegent design
Have a good day!

The "family value" phrase was a campaign ploy. Actual conservatives are against social programs. These programs which democrats usually ascribe to, require higher taxes. Conservatives want their taxes cut. So basically democrats are the real family value bunch. The democrats aren't that bright, though. They never jumped on the opportunity to expose this point.

I think you are mixing up lots of things here.
Traditional Conservatives ( in the UK) tend to hold traditional values concerning family life, couples being married, wife not working, against homosexuality etc.
However they also tend to have a more benevolent view of health care and education as something that there is a certain duty for leaders and rich to provide kind of in a lord of the manor way.
Neo cons dont tend to hold such traditional views about family life . They think government should butt out of everything taxes should be low and people should be left to sink or swim in a survival of the fittest manner.
Obviously this is a bit of a generalisation and you get conservatives in between these positions.

So far my answers to even idiotic questions have been carefully worded so as to not hurt anyone's feelings. I can make an exception here. Check to see how much is being spent on healthcare and education in this country, each state and city before you ask assinine questions like this.

Yeah, why on earth did they:
1 - pass No Child Left Behind
2 - pass a totally unaffordable (except by YOUR grandkids!) Medicare prescription drug entitlement
Geez, with a mentality like yours you probably wonder who's responsible for the sun coming up in the East EVERY day; I mean, really, why isn't life FAIR with the sun at least coming up in the West somewhere close to HALF the time, right?

They aren't against health care, they are against free health care. I would suspect its because like the oil and tobacco industry many of our politicians are in the back pocket of the insurance industry. In other words, they stand to make more money if we continue things as they are now. Its not just insurance companies, its the drug industry, the hospital industry, lawyers, medical professionals, and all the extraneous providers and companies who feed off the fact that we do not have free health care.
I would point out though, you have seen enough of what the republican government does when left to their own devices, do you really want them providing health care?
Vote them out of office.

Where did you get that idea. What people are against is throwing more money into a system that is failing. It should be about reform, and fixing the problem, not just throwing money at it. That never works.
