my hubby usually has around £50 out of his wages and i have the rest for housekeeping etc which is around £250, if he does overtime he keeps that but usually spends it on me and our four kids

As for how much money I have to spend on myself: enough. It's all a matter of attitude, really. My soul is satisfied with what I have NOW, so what I do spend on myself is usually of a necessary nature like food and a new pair of shoes for work. Even if I made beau-coup dollars, I don't know if I would spend much of it on myself.
To answer your question more directly: I spend about $100 a week, including rent and utilities. I don't own a car so that saves on gas, maintenance, and insurance. And I've been blessed with "finding" free food :-). I take books out on loan from the library and I've had my clothes for several years or they've been given to me.
It doesn't take much to survive in this world as long as you have your priorities straight! God first!

Are you bothered about how much the average woman has? Me, I am just wondering if its any different these days given the old Equal Pay Act etc etc.
I just asked my husband for you and he said he doesnt have a clue, but if he were on benefits he would have a better idea. He reckons the less a bloke has, the more you are aware of disposable income.
