Lets understand power first. Electricity usage is governed by amps. So, the more amps something requires the more electricity it uses. Your computer, and monitor, probably pull a maximum of 2 amps, which probably costs around 3 dollars a month, if it were on all the time. So, with this info. you make the call. Hydro electricity is created by water turning a generator correct? There fore, it is still flowing regaurdless of how much you use. So, for an answer, I will have to say. No, you will not save water, just a small amount of money.

The actions of one person would have no impact on the hydro electric generating system, particularly over something involving as little current consumption as a computer.

This is the equivalent of asking if drinking one less glass of water each day will help stop drought.

No, hydro electric coverts mechanical energy of the water to electrical energy. Water just flows right through it, so water is not wasted. Only thing you will save is the money that goes into your electricity bill.

Water is not consumed during the generation of electricity in hydroelectric projects. In physics terms, we convert the dynamic energy of water flowing from the higher/faster water sources to move turbines whose motion is used to generate the electric power.

LOL.....ok, water is a renewable resource but power is costly, both on a personal and environmental level. Turn off your computer at the power strip when you can and make sure that you have the sleep and hibernation modes on.

Uh, does the water only run when you use power? I doubt it... so no.
