let me say that my closet is routinely neater than hers, and also this gift was given 17 days after my actual birthdate. The reason was the hangers were on backorder!!
My last gift to my wife was she was taken to a spa where she was allowed to workout, given a pedicure and manicure, a massage and a brazilian. We have 4 children and I took all four with me all day. The gift previous was hotel w/ spa treatment, limo ride to Anita baker concert, and at dinner, the waiter brought over a covered dish which had a topaz ring (birthstone) underneath. Any questions?

Also I am routinely a neater person so all those with the thought that a slob got a gift to help him is not accurate. sorry.

WOW your additional information changes things up significantly... perhaps your wife could use a few suggestions and the gift of an organizer for her next birthday? I'm not in agreement with the people who say "what comes around, goes around" to essentially 'get her back' for what you view as a bad choice of a birthday gift. Revenge is never a good idea. Have you considered asking her if there was some significance to the choice of hangers as your birthday gift? Good communication is essential to any healthy marriage... keep in mind that your disappointment will turn to anger then resentment and will undermine the foundation of your marriage.

LMAO!
Buy her a shoe rack for hers...
To all the people that think she did this because he is a slob, there are other ways that she could go about getting her point across. A birthday gift should be from the heart no matter what the situation is.

It maybe a bit weird yes.
But I don't know what beliefs or some kind of superstition you conotes with that.
As I am from an asean country,, I do not seem to have anything wrong with that..
It is either she wants you to keep your closet always well arrange and neat or.
Maybe she just want you to buy her some new dresses.
No hassles for me..
I still would thank her, hug and kiss her..
No big deal.

Perhaps buy her a washing machine for hers???? Gifts like this are usually funny at best. Let's face it, most of us already have everything we want...what is the problem. If they are the nice wood type that hold jacket's forms, that is a pretty nice gift, actually.

Hmm. First thing would be to inquire as to the message inherent in the object and then decide whether to act on it. Might be worth some brownie points if one followed the "suggestion."

That is CLEARLY a sign of a troubled relationship. That is a very impersonal gift and I would confront her about the lack of thought she put in to buying my birthday present.
