Hi ladies,
I believe I'm in the beginning part of my labor (I'm 41 weeks pregnant). I'm having light contractions about 15-20 minutes apart... but the strange thing is...I have menstral cramp type pain in between the contractions. The cramping lasts the entire duration. Has anyone else experienced this or heard of this?
I've paged my doc and I'm waiting for him to call back...I just wanted to know if anyone else has had a similar experience.
Thanks!

The cramping doesn't hurt...it's just uncomfortable...just like normal menstral cramps...
Sorry for all the added details...I just want to be clear.

UPDATE:
If the cramping is constant... as you just updated, then, just go on into the hospital.
My water didn't break until the 30 minutes before I had my daughter, that was after 22 hours of labor pains. I went from 3 centameters to fully diolated in 30minutes. My point is, just cause your water hasn't broken doesn't mean that you won't have the baby soon.
With constant cramping as you described, I would just go on into the hospital.

Sounds normal. Keep timing everything. Your contractions might be closer than you think. You might want to just go to the hospital now.

Yes, and it sounds like you are in early labor. My suggestion is pack your bags, go out to eat (because they will not let you eat until after the baby is born) and get close to the hospital. Walk around until your contractions are about 2 minutes apart. That way you can do what you want before they put you in that robe and tell you that you can have only IV and if you are lucky ice chips. Good Luck! Enjoy your baby.

well I am 39 weeks with my second, lost my mucus plug 3 days ago, have had menstrual like cramping for 2 weeks, 60% effaced and dilated 1. I am still not in labor. I can't walk the pressure is so bad. So Iguess all I can say is I hope for you that it means you are close! But it has not meant that for me.

Defuinatelyt a a good way to describe them but completely unrelated. If you have started contractions you are going to feel all kinds of unease and pain and your whole body will feel contracted and un-relaxed take a warm not hot bath and breath!

Yeah it sounds normal, it sounds like you're progressing right along. your uterus is probably staying tight inbetween contractions.
Usually the end of labor is like that, you have contractions which urge you to push, and then uncomfortable pressure inbetween, but theyre very very close together.
Has your water broke yet? Its probably just how your body does labor. Every woman labors differently.

if the cramping is constant you need to be ready to go to the hospital! The pains WILL get closer and closer together as well. CONGRATS!
