It's sad that he's died, and I'm sure he did a lot of conservation and educational work in his time, but wasn't something like this bound to happen with how he tormented some of the animals he filmed?

To those with a short attention span: IT'S SAD THAT HE DIED.

At least it was doing something he loved.

By torment I mean distress, pester, harass. I definitely DO NOT suggest he purposefully caused harm.

Sad that some can't recognise an intelligent question on here.

Extremely heartened to see that so many CAN recognise an intelligent question, whether they agree or disagree.

Tormented, no I don't believe so. Ticked them off for a few minutes at a time, maybe.

Steve was recognised throughout the world as one of the greatest environmentalists and conservationists. He devoted his life to both these causes.

It may have appeared that he was tormenting animals at times but in fact, he was doing nothing more than playing with them in much the same way as someone would 'torment' a cat or a dog.

I would say that he wasn't tormenting tham, It's far less traumatic for the animal than drugging them. He knew what he was doing. Unfortunately, he danced with death one too many times, and tripped up. It's a true shame, and the world will miss him, but he simply ran out of luck.

I'm sad, but also not surprised that this happened. It was bound to happen sooner or later.

He was maybe a little bit foolish but he loved animals, anyone could see that...he wasn¸t tormenting them at all! He was brave and well educated adventurer who did all that he could to show as that even the most dangerous creatures in the world need to be respected and loved !

No, he did not torment animals ... He just had a passion for what he was doing and he had no fear. Its like he got his sense of accomplishment by being in danger and teaching us how dangerous it can be to be that near the animals.

Not sure why you would assume that we have a short attention span.

FYI Mr. Intelligent, 'recognize' is spelled with a 'z' ... not an 's'.

RECOGNIZE.

I think he thought he was doing the right thing even if those poor animals thought otherwise, at least he lived his life to the full and lived long despite all the danger he was in 24/7.

Nah they liked it! I feel very sorry for his family. Who seriously would think he would die from the sting of a nice old Stingray? Snake, croc bite maybe but a stingray! Think of all the dangerous animals he handled. Its like being a lion tamer and being run over by a bus!

I'm in no sense saying that I'm glad that he died. It is sad, very sad. But wasn't it inevitable that something like this would happen sooner or later? When you play with fire you're bound to get burned.

he did not harm any of the animals he was an environmentalist he gave people entertainment but he also educated people about what to do if you see an animal like he worked with. such as spiders, snakes, and crocodiles. i agree with the first girl he maybe ticked them off but i have never seen him harm an animal. i thought it was sooo sad he died because i have watched him a while. and now his wife has to raise their daughter alone.
