I suppose I kind of see your point; I remember when the rumor circulated online that Jon Heder died in a car crash or something, and that turned out to not be true. But I think that got out from less reliable sources than yahoo, so Steve Irwin probably really is dead. Poor guy.

Sure was. A very sad tragedy!!
He was diving off batt reef in northern Queensland, when he was struck to the chest by a stingray's tail, which pierced his chest and entered his heart.
Although CPR> was applied, Steve was pronounced Dead soon after. ( approximately 11.33 am Monday sept. 4 2006 )
A big shock, !! But , Say a prayer for his Family, Who don't know how hard the future will be without Steve.

Why would you wonder about his death, I feel it is a horrific tragedy to his family, friends, and to the wonderful country of Australia. He was a wonderful humanitarian who did so much work preserving his beloved homeland. I understand being killed by a stingray is rare, I think the news said only three reported cases ever. Doesn't mean it isn't true tragedy strikes. Bless his poor family that they will find the strength to cope....

So Sad.. Very Very Sad... He is an Icon on Animal Planet.. How many times have you seen him just jump into the water infested with crocs and other dangerous situations ONLY for gaining more people and viewers to understand and appreciate the Animal Kingdom.
He is truly the one and only spokesperson for all Animals.
My most sincere condolences and prayers to Steve's family.

Rabid Lover are you flirting with another conspiracy theory? What's not to believe?
I'll bet Steve, himself would grant that even gentle animals have bad days and that a fluke accident like this could happen at any time.

Yes, he was killed. Today. By a sting ray. It's on the news online, on TV, and on the radio. Why would anyone not believe it? What would be the point of making up something like that?

He was killed by a stingray whose barb entered through his ribcage and then pierced his heart. He was filming a documentary. And yes, I believe he is definitely dead-too bad-he was a colorful personality-Crikey, what a shame !!!!

It is a very sad story and my heart goes out to his family. I dont believe a family man such as himself would go to an extent as to lie about his death. The news was shocking but may he rest in piece>

Yes, I actually believe it. It's a shame. He was an absolute NUT (the stunt with the croc and his baby boy wasn't exactly Einstein material), but it's hard to resist someone who has such palpable PASSION for what they do in life.
