Astrology is a type of divination based upon the idea that information, usually either about the future or about a person's personality, can be discovered through an examination of "heavenly bodies" - stars, planets, the moon, comets, etc. Read about the different types of astrology and what they are supposed to do.
The horoscope is a map that appears as a two dimensional chart showing the position of the Sun, the Moon, and planets at the precise moment of your birth.

Horoscopes assume that everybody born on the same day is born in the same place and at the same time (noon). Let's face it, you can't possibly calculate 144 million different birth times, and so, computer generated general horoscopes. Whereas astrology takes into account the time, date, place of birth, individual location of planets by sign and house, as well as aspects and other considerations. Not all Aries are the same, nor do they all have the same moon signs, house placements, etc. Just as not all Tauruses are the same, or Gemini, or Leo, etc, Just a general explanation, because then you take into account things like decanates, dwads, interceptions, part of fortune, ascendant, mid heaven, ruler ships, house, sign positions, etc.

Horoscope Junkie: Prophecies for the passionate in planetary prediction. http://www.psychic-junkie.com/horoscope-junkie.html
With free horoscopes we presume that all and sundry born under the same sign will behave in the same manner. This, of course, is not true, but it is a main stay of entertainment for many who regularly read the horoscope columns in the newspapers, glossy magazines and here on the web.
Astrology Junkie: astrological reports start with your own unique natal chart based on the time, date and place of YOUR birth. Your chart will reflect the unique influences ascertained from the precise time and location of your birth and the relative positions of Sun, Moon, planets, signs, houses and aspects (angles between the planets) at the moment of your birth. http://www.psychic-junkie.com/astrology-junkie.html
