Yes. It's a chance to talk about your memories of the person who passed, with friend & family you may not have seen in quite awhile. Like you always hear at funerals. Why do we only get together at Weddings & Funerals.

Yes, I do. People should eat after, before or during any occassion, no matter what it is. During funerals, people should eat double, once for themselves, and once for the dead person, who probably won't be having the chance of eating anything else...

Absolutely! I would view it as a celebration of the deceased person's life. When I die, I want people to rock and roll. Play my favorite music, dance, sing along, eat, drink (no alcohol,please), and be merry. Watch my movies, read my books, hike my mountains and enjoy everything I've enjoyed all my life, even if it's just once.

not a "mega" feast. but yeah, i think there should be a feast. to celebrate the deceased's new beginning.

No, I never understood this eating thing and reception after a funeral. Jeez, even after someone is buried, all people think about is free food and drinks!

They usually have a pot-luck, and it's a way of bringing people together after a sad event.

Definitely, it gives everyone an opportunity to get together and reminisce or tell stories about their loved one. Also, you are able to console and grieve together for a while. And you get to eat, too!
