If they're rock compilations, then because Queen are seen as Rock Gods.

If they're Dance compilations, then something's wrong.

I'll give you an example, then an answer.

Example: the Air Guitar Albums

Answer: Brian May (Queen's Guitarist) instigated the commissioning of these albums - he chose what tracks went on.

If the example is different, then it's usually because someone writing the line-up of rock songs thinks Queen were and still are a rock band due to the fact that they were in their day pioneers in music. Example: Bohemian Rhapsody involved not only a rocky Ballard, but a very operatic section as well.

Because most people recognise the music of Queen and so will associate any music on the CD with 'proper' music, rather than the soft stuff or headbanging noise fests that are described as rock now.
The music of Queen is also a lot more commercial and pop-like, so their music fits any type of complilation to a point.
But you may want to try avoiding these types of CDs, as better music may be on CDs you have not considered. It's the way I discovered several of the bands I now like.

Queen was a great band!

Also, they were lucky enough to 'be cool' in their time frame and yet they span several decades thanks to Wayne's World, Ella Enchanted and sports on TV.

Freddie Mercury was an icon, openly gay, died of AIDs didn't exactly become a martyr but somehow managed to be beloved in almost all cultures because of his talent, intelligence and hard rocking.

Any compilation CD introducing the first song by Queen will certainly gain immediate acceptance moreso than almost any other band.

I had the same thing happen to me when I purchased Queens Greatest Hits 1,2 & 3. Every bloody one of them started with a Queen song!! For a guy from Zanzibar (now Tanzania) that Farookh kiddy with the big teath and camp ways sure did O.K for himself! He infact managed, against all odds, to turn himself into one of rock greatest singers! R.I.P Farookh The show must go on!

Because Queen were/are the greatest band ever to grace the earth! Also, if it's the air Guitar compilations you're buying, they're put together by Brian May, so that might have something to do with it!

Because you obviously have a healthy taste in rock music, and Queen are rock legends, as agreed by many. I personally think they're good, but no Iron Maiden!

You're clearly buying the wrong kind of compilation album. I think you'll find the quality of your purchases improves if you stick to compilations without any Queen on them at all....
