It's a river in Arizona and Utah.

I think you really want to know about pariah.

Pariah, originally the name of the Pariah people in India, has gained widespread use as an analogy, especially in the phrase "social pariah", as a term for anyone considered an outcast or noticeably different by others.

Pariah comes from the Tamil language and means a large drum used on festive occasions. It also means people of low caste - particularly around Madras (now Chennai) in Tamil Nadu. The word has been used in English since 1819 to describe a social outcast. Not P.C. - better not to use the word these days.
