I collect pins. Not buttons, but pins. The metal kind you buy as souveniers when you travel, or a job gives you when you've been there a while, or what you get when you join a club.
I have some that are from WWII, and most of the Space Shuttle pins (shuttle crews design their own emblem and it becomes patches they wear, and pins for people like me lol). People buy me pins when they travel, and sometimes give me old pins that mean a lot to them, because they know I'll appreciate and care for them.
I got started by putting a few on the collar of a coat I used to wear, and it snowballed from there. Eventually I had a vest that was covered in them; then it got too heavy to wear the vest, and now they live in huge a huge glass enclosed display case, resting on black velvet. Nearly every one of them reminds me of someone, some place, or some event. Very very cool!

Well, I collect anything Jackie O, and I Love Lucy stuff. But I started on both before the craze began a few years ago. Ive had most of my stuff since I was six or so. Sooo Its been a while,a nd I have a bunch of stuff! I have an I Love Lucy bathroom (and even my dogs name is Lucy), and I collect Oleg Cassini clothing (like Jackie O). Even my wedding dress was made by him. I love collecting vintage kitchen Items. My kitchen is "elegant retro" without looking like a diner. I love antique furniture and anything with a history behind it. Thanks for the question --- good one!

Antique typewriters. Anything before about 1920. They were so difficult and cumbersome to use but they were a marvel of technology in their time. I also keep an eye out for the old advertisements for the typewriters.
And a Haviland china pattern.
