My mums hair thinned out A LOT when she was pregnant with me. Its the hormones that cause it. Her hair is still very thin but not embarrasingly so. Check with your doc to be sure

It is normal for your hair to thin out. The changing hormones in your body is the cause, but like the other lady said, eat a healthy diet, get plenty of water and calcium and take your prenatal vitamins. They will help some, but not stop your hair loss completely. After the baby is born and your body returns to normal, you should see a difference.

You will go from having great hair to icky hair and back again with pregnancy as the hormones fluctuate. Make sure you are taking your prenatal vitamins, drinking 10-12 8oz glasses of water a day, 5 milk products, and eating healthy. Your body needs good nutrition while the baby is growing. If your body is not getting enough nutrients from your diet your body will start pulling it from your body. So check your eating and drinking habits, if they are not up to par, fix it and you will feel alot better and have less adverse effects from pregnancy.

I've seen it happen many times. Up to a reasonable extend this is normal, and the hair lost comes back pretty soon after the birth.
