i don't mean any offence by the question, just saw a group of teenagers all walking around like they had a wooden leg each, and i'm curious as to the reason

Hah, although I prefer some of the other answers the truth is:
It comes about from when black slaves had one of their legs in irons ( it made them limp),and it has been 'copied' from that. I am sure that half the people with this 'limp' don't even know what they are doing or what it is supposed to symbolize!
