as i remember him, steve irwin was a great guy. i used to watch his shows all of the time and i remember my dad making fun of his australian accent(my dad is english). i used to watch his shows and always learn something totally interesting. im very saddened by his freakish death and i hope many people feel that way too. it seems like it actually wasn't real. like this is some bad dream and i just have to wake up. He was kind of like my hero because he would go insanely close to all of these wild animals and tell us all about them. I loved this guy. my regards go out to terri and her children.

crikey.....

they said that this is how steve wnated to die, doing something that he loved.
i dont think it is selfish what he was doing when he had kids. they probably want to live that life to, and be daring and crazy, just like their father...

i will never forget the image of steve irwin talking to the camera while sharks were in a feeding frenzy all around him while he stood in the water...the guy was a crazy kook but he was fascinating, funny and very entertaining...i kind of felt one day his luck would run out the way he took risks dealing with wildlife but i would never have guessed it would take a stingray to be the culprit....my condolences to his friends and family....he was one of a kind and his legacy will continue as his shows run on animal planet

This incident is sad, do not get me wrong here. There is nothing funny about death, yet it is something that we all have to deal with when it comes to life. Death is its' equal and without it the world would be in chaos. There is also Irony in this. So many comedians and shows made fun of the fact that he was taking these chances and getting so close that one day he could be killed by one of these creatures & unfortunelty it happened. I am sure alot of them feel bad now that they did those skits, but now because of the way TV has gone and every show pushes to have a 'shock factor' there are going to be more jokes about this. Once again, that is part of life as well and for some people, this will help them get over it. Like they say, 'Laughter is the best medicene...'

Very sad, I can imagine his wife who has hardly left his side is tore up. His oldest child who is 8 is sure to miss him and have fond memories but the 3 year old who is a boy named Bob will surely miss out on what an extraordinary man his father was. Both children have lost a wonderful loving father as for Terry his wife I can't imagine what she is going through. May God bless his family

Very sad! Its hard to imagine. My children loved his show and Steve fascinated them. I also began to take interest and learned so much. Its strange that the thing he loved so much and fought to protected.....animals and wildlife killed him in the end.

My thoughts and prayers.

of course--very sad--especially for the family who is grieving and will continue to do so long after . its a shame because of his young age and childrens young age--I am not judging anyone but you play with fire anytime you put yourself in harms way--its a selfish thing to do when you have such young children.

I was shocked that he died, he is always wrestling with crocs and grabbing onto snakes, and now that a marine animal killed him changes everything.
