The best time for an adult to sleep is during the night when it is quiet. Sleep is a diurnal biological need.Taking a nap during the day is alright if one wishes and finds time, but one should not sleep immediately after food as it results in obesity. However it is a misconception that one can sleep for lesser hours on the day one took a nap. One has to sleep for the full quota of usual nightly sleep. Lack of sleep affects concentration on the next day and one is prone to risk making accidents or getting involved into some, due to momentary slips in consciousness.

I sleep about 3 hours at night, then about a 2 nap in the daytime. I am never sleepy or feel tired. I am always full of life and energy. I don't have any problems, so I think it is o.k., but I am a chef not a doctor.

No health risk. I take a siesta, a short nap or just a rest in the afternoon, very refreshing. Ask the Italians or Spanish, its a way of life.

It's a bad habit...if you get 8 hours a night you shouldn't need a nap except when your sick etc. Once you start having a nap you will become dependant on it...I had M.E and the more I slept the more I needed so I had to be really strict and wean myself off it and I feel much better now xx

Sleep is what you make of it I manage on 4 hours sleep a night every night I haven't crashed yet. So the specialists who says you need anywhere between 6-8 hours sleep a night are talking our of their ****. As for sleeping in the day there shouldn't be any problems as long as your body gets down time there shouldn't be a problem how much or where or when should there?

Personally at weekends I like to take an afternoon nap. I find it helps me enjoy my saturday and sunday evenings more. During the weekdays I tend to nap on the train on the way home and feel really refreshed afterwards. If your body is telling you to rest then you should listen to it.

They say that the most important time to get sleep is between 2am and 5am. Apparently, these are the most beneficial hours. So I guess once you're asleep before 2am and don't wake up until after 5 am, everything should be hunky dory!
