When you get hit in the gut you bend over. That is the effect.

When a woman puts on an uplift bra. That is an affect for an effect.

Affect means to influence.
Effect is the result of some event.

If you can't remember those two sentences keep your dictionary handy.

Affect is a verb. When something affects you, it touches you very deeply.

For example: The sympathy letter from my ex-best friend really affected me.

An effect is a noun. It is something that happens because of something else.

For example: In the water cycle, the effect of condensation is precipitation.
