Where are they getting in? Or are they outside? I read that the average life span of a regular housefly is about 3 wks. We all get them when the weather is just right ...and they bite too! We used a fly catching jar (from the feed store) when I lived in the country. It was gross, but it worked (outside!) We have those sticky strips hanging in our garage right now. I only get an occasional one in the house and the swatter is used. If you've got older windows, they could be getting in there. Good Luck!

Home Centers sell a product that really works. Its a bag you fill with water and hang outside. I live next to a cattle farm and after hanging three of these out the flies were all gone. They need to be changed when full (1000's of flies) and it may take a week to break the breeding cycle but this is alot better than spraying toxic stuff all throughout your house.

Look to Radio Shack/Tandy to find an electronic 'Pest Controller/Repeller'. It's a handy little gadget that is plugged into a wall socket & the tiny vibrations emitted repell insects from the area. It's not the lantern hung outside patios that zaps, it's much less intense but fairly effective for the money.

Try to make sure all waste bins and food items is covered properly and regular spraying of bleach on bins and drains will work as well. Always use hot water and bleach to flush drains and coverings to ensure total elimination.
Tip : To prevent flies flying around when eating. The usage of burning candles indoors and outdoors to prevent flies flying to your food. The heat waves created will make it hard for the flies to see.

I have used the "No Pest Strip" that can be bought at WalMart or a hardware store. Hang a few in the windows that usually helps. If that doesn't work I would call an exterminator.

My advice is buy a couple of cans of fly spray, close all the windows and give the whole a place a good spraying (preferably just before you leave the house). Do this each day until they have all gone!

check for cracks in between walls, flies may be looking for a warm place to winter over in. If you find them I would use a spray w/ a residual effect, to get the next generation. If its fruit flies, pour insecticide down drains and let it sit. They sometimes lay eggs in grease trap. and if u rinse poison out too soon, it is redundant.
