I'm not sure how your transmission went out, but it's not very likely you will find one. The 2.2 engine never dies and the car is covered by a lifetime corrosion free guarantee. You will most likely NOT find one in any junkyard. Maybe a newer one with the 2.5, but not the 2.2. Look on ebay. Other than that, you are most likely stuck with buying a new one. Now if you screwed up your tranny by putting wrong size tires on it, just put a fuse in the FWD fuse holder under the hood to force it into FWD. It's on the passenger side by the firewall. I actually prefer to put a switch in the line so I can manually switch it from AWD to FWD. Good luck.

Try car-part.com and they can find you the best price. I have no ties to this site, but they've saved my bacon a few times. But Subaru's are notorious for being expensive to fix, and this is no exception. But really, $2,000 is the going rate for a transmission these days. A used one will save you money if you can find one. Hope this helps.

That is about what it would cost you to have a transmission rebuilt too. You can try a salvage yard in Redding, California. They even deliver like once a week up to around 500 miles away. I lived in Oregon and they delivered to me. Just look up salvage yard, etc in the online yellow pages. They would be good people to contact. They would have a website plus an 800 number.

if you have plenty of yard room you could buy a wreck at the car auctions then you would have plenty of parts.
