i have a 1992 ford tempo GL , v-6 made in canada... its still over heating and i have replaced the thermostat, my wife said it made a pinging sound just before smoke came out of the tailpipe...

Sounds like you've cracked a head. Possible timing problem though. Is it getting hot because of lack of water? If it jumped time, it may overheat. Cam timing, not electrical. If so, it's running like crap. If it's running fine but just overheating, you may have a clogged radiator. Need more info on what's been done and behavior of the car. Good luck.
