The speed of light in a vacuum is 299,792,458 m/s.

In one nano second (1E-9 seconds), light will travel 0.2998 m.

There are 100 cm in 1 m, and 2.540 cm in one inch (sorry that is how I remember it). So there are 39.37 inches per meter.

This means that light will travel 11.80 inches in 1 nano second.

3*10^8 m/s * 10^(-9) seconds is 3*10^(-1) meters which is 30 cm or about 11.81 inches.

Don't you have a calculator? Or do you just not know how to set up such problems?
