I am very sorry to hear that Steve Irwin is no longer with us. I think that he tempted fate one time too many. God has a plan for our lives. I guess my answer really is that God knew what day and time Steve would leave this earth. This was decided before he was even born. Sometimes we play with God, and we really shouldn't do that. He is a loving God, but if you make him very angry he will do what he says earlier than you expected. I hope this answer is worthwhile. chicken girl

Well it clearly did since most people wouldnt ever be in the position to die in that way.
I think with Steve Irwin it was a belief rather than a career. He lived his life for the animals that he loved so much and his wife shares that same passion. I think when his kids were older they probably would have been the same so I dont think he could have done it any other way.
I think he died doing what he loved the most and I think for most of us, we would consider ourselves very lucky if the same happened to us .. its just a shame that based on his age he went 'before his time' especially as he leaves young children behind.

I think he had a real passion for Australian wildlife and loved what he did. For the most part he seemed to very much know what he was doing around dangerous animals, so its not as if he was some complete amateur messing about with poisonous and dangerous animals - he knew how to approach them, and hold them etc so that they didn't attack and presumably he knew also what to do if he ever was bitten. In his obit. it says his parents set up a Wildlife reserve in the early 70s and he had been handling snakes, crocodiles etc his whole life since childhood, so he knew what he was doing.
And I guess it could have been a car crash or something like that - so many people get killed in that way. At least he did die doing what he loved and wasn't carried off in car accident or something like that. He seemed to have dealt with dangerous crocodiles and snakes etc safely for so long, but I guess it only takes one missed step and thats it.
It was very unlucky that the accident happened when he was far from civilisation so an ambulance couldn't get to him quickly and that the stingray dart hit him in the heart. If it had caught him in the leg or something he might have survived.

My prayers will be for his family.
Of all of the ways I figured he would get hurt, this is not one of them, but I do understand why. Stingrays are paranoid animals. I have petted them, but very carefully. They are peaceful, but as with any animal they don't like to be eaten. It probably freaked out when Steve's shadow went over it. It was a freak accident. I always figured it would be a big croc, or a Black Mamba or a taipan, or some other deadly animal. It is a shame. He will be missed by a lot of people. His work was very important to mankind in ways a lot of people don't realize. He did a lot of work with poisonous snakes and anti-venom research. It wasn't all just entertainment. I will miss him and his shows and society lost an important and intelligent man. He died doing what he enjoyed. God bless .
P.S. The barb of the tail of the stingray went through his ribs and into his heart. No amount of medical help could have saved him with a wound like that. It would be like getting shot in the heart by an armor piercing bullet. He died quickly.

oops, can you edit the question to be 'untimely death'. I think everyone knows that it is a mistake though, and not a cold cynical remark.
I loved watching his progs, but he did have lots of near misses with crocs nearly takin is ed off, and really deadly venomous snakes where he would just comment "he is gettin a bit angry now, look how he is curling back on himself to get me"
I'm sorry the guy is dead, he was just a playful kid.
In a material way his family will be well catered for, I think they would rather swap that to have him back.

I just read a n article about Steve Irwin.
This man helped his country with environmental issues
He opened a zoo in Queensland.
The article says that he chose a lifestyle that his whole family and a lot of people benefit ted from.
I am sure he left a great legacy, and perhaps enough money to last his family for the rest of their lives.
accidents do happen.
This man died doing something that he loved to do, not harming anyone, pray the rest of us could follow his example.
everybody dies.

i will never forget the image of steve irwin talking to the camera while sharks were in a feeding frenzy all around him while he stood in the water...the guy was a crazy kook but he was fascinating, funny and very entertaining...i kind of felt one day his luck would run out the way he took risks dealing with wildlife but i would never have guessed it would take a stingray to be the culprit....my condolences to his friends and family....he was one of a kind and his legacy will continue as his shows run on animal planet

Isn't it bizarre that there wasn't a medical crew with them on location during a shoot? The insurance alone would force them to have everything they needed in case of emergencies. But he was transported up north and died.
His family will be alright- they have big support here in QLD, plus the Australian Zoo would make enough money to support them economically, too.

You could look at his death from another, more positive perspective.
Steve died doing that which he loved~ exploring the wild world of nature. Since we all must die someday, I can think of no better way to go than doing that which makes us happy.
