If it is just recently that the living have outnumbered the dead and there is 6 1/2 billion of us here now, I make that just over 13 billion in all.

I read somewhere that there are more people alive right now, than all the dead in history. Which leaves us somewhere under 12 000 000 000.

I can believe this, since the earth's population has more than doubled since my mom was born.
