Uh, neither. Revealed would be correct, but the word has to be in the past tense.

Reveal and expose cant make any good sense.

Revealed to me just means they are showing something. Exposed means it was suppose to be hidden and was found by someone and shown off.

To reveal a picture that explains itself or to expose a person, implying they tell you something(risking).

As per the Canadian Oxford Dictionary:

EXPOSED: Uncover or make visible.

REVEAL: Display, show or expose.

I would go with "exposed" as he uncovered and made visible the painting.
