That is no different than any other country. Every nation pursues its own self-interests. Isn't that why you clung to your colonies until you were basically forced to let them go?

And come on, "Red Indians??" I don't think that term's been used since around 1850 or so. Even "Indian" has fallen somewhat out of fashion. And besides, it's not like they were all nice and friendly. They were ruthless warriors. Read up on the history of Jamestown.

And you know, I am so sick of hearing this canard about Americans not leaving the US. Why the hell do we need to? Yeah, 99% of you have passports, but it's not because you are worldly travellers. It's because your countries are so small, you need a passport just to go to the grocery store! Big dea! Most of your countries are smaller than most of our states. When I moved from Maryland to Texas, just HALFWAY across the country, that was enough distance to travel from the Iberian peninsula to the border of Russia!

So, to hell with you arrogant twits and your high-horse cosmopolitansim.

Your remark about "the Red Indians," reveals a common misconception and shallow thinking. The Native American culture failed because they had no unity. They routinely made war on each other. They took each other's land and enslaved each other as a way of life. This went on for centuries. Add to that the fact that they were still basically living in the stone age, no invention of wheel, little or no domestication of animals, no alphabet so no written history, etc. Any wonder the Europeans seemed superior with their sailing vessels able to navigate the world, metals, gunpowder, compasses, etc. When the Europeans came they were used to working together in some kind of unity. They established a dynamic, progressive civilization while the Indians continued to war among themselves. Only one Indian, Tecumseh, tried to unite them to prevent the spread of the whites. He was killed in a battle before his movement got traction. In short, the Indians got what they had always given to each other. If some contexts that is called justice. If the Europeans had not done it then eventually someone else would have. If you think the yanks are pushy you need to have a better argument.

I guess I'm considered a Yank, as I'm from the United States. However, I don't expect people to do what I want. I have learned to be tolerant of other peoples religious and life style choices. I wish we could all practice tolerance, there would be a lot less violence.

I don't know where you're from but read any history book and you'll see that the US has not been the only society that is guilty of type of behavior.

Take a look at your history before you bash the yanks. England wanted to rule the seas, scotland, spain, france, may i go on. Marriages were even arranged between royality to form alliances in order to gain support of the ambitions of England. As far as the Indians were concerned, "manifest destiny" was the term used, but remember who our forefathers were that started all of that---BRITISH.

You would think we Yanks would learn from the Red Indians too, wouldn't you? Well, if its any consolation, because our political figures are so inept in the art of giving advice few civilized people take us seriously until we kill enough of them. Be thankful were not focused on your country.

I don't think that is fair. You could, rightly in my view, argue that the first settlers, the British and the French, were the first to do battle with the indiginous population, in order to establish some control. As for the rest, I would need examples. I am British and not ashamed of the Empire, but we must, ourselves, have done an awful lot of telling in the past.

A better question would be,"Why can't Brits understand that the "yanks" they despise so much mostly came from Britain?"
America does have a volatile past, but what country doesn't? What country can you name that has never imposed their will on anyone else? All we can hope to do is learn from our mistakes, and try to move forward.

Wait, weren't those "Yanks" actually Brits when they started doing that?? Oh yeah, and Spanish too, and French. But of course none of those countries NEVER colonized any countries such as South Africa (or all of the African colony for that matter.) Read your history boy-o.
