I do have respect for him. I loved to watch his show. Its tragic, but when you work with deadly animals you are taking a risk.
And
Has anyone forgot the baby and crocodile incident?

Yes, I was shocked when I turned on the TV this morning. Well, can't say I was "shocked", because what he did was a dangerous profession for obvious reasons, but it is still very sad. He had a great heart and personality. He loved his family, that's for sure. And he loved teaching people about animals and wildlife conversation.
RIP, Steve

It still seems sorta surreal... like it didn't really happen. I read the news on Yahoo's front page 2 days ago. It was like 1 AM, when I saw it, and at fisrt I thought I'd misread the byline. Then I clicked on the link (the news of his death had only been live for 18 minutes) and read the story. It's sad. He was entertaining and annoying all rolled into one. He will be missed.

The baby and crocodile incident is not different than having dogs in your house......Hundreds of children are killed annualy by supposodly loving family pets.....Steve knew what he was doing and wasn't even messing with the stingray when he was stung....He will be missed.

As an Australian I have to admit when I heard it on the radio that he had died I was stunned - all I could think about were his family - my daughter (who is 3) saw him on the news and immediately wanted me to put on the DVD he made with the Wiggles - she didnt have any understanding as to what had happened to him but she loves him and that got me to thinking about all the kids in the world who loved him and how they would feel about it - then people like you ask questions like how much insurance did he have???? Have some respect!

His death is a really sad tragedy. I never thought of him passing away so soon. Who knows how much more we could've learned from him. He taught us a lot about nature it's unbelievable!
R.I.P Crocodile Hunter

I'm surprised it was a stingray that got him. Death from a stingray barb is actually very rare.

I do not imagine that he could get insurance. I can imagine the people at the insurance company saying, "Steve Irwin? Are you kidding????"
