I got mine for the gym, cycling running etc. I was looking for a low cost unit I didn't mind taking some abuse. It sounds great!

I found a good deal for them here:

In my opinion iPods are somewhat overrated and overpriced. A low-cost, and dare I say 'better' alternative to the shuffle is the Creative Zen: http://www.buy.com/prod/Creative_512MB_Zen_Nano_Plus_Black/q/loc/111/90148354.html

An armband comes included with the player, and 512 MB stores plenty of music for 10 workout sessions. It also includes an FM tuner, so that you can tune in to the TV programming playing at your gym or your favorite radio station. The $55 price tag makes it a deal.

I even have an ipod and it works properly. additionally the nike+ipod element is fairly fairly super for seeing how far you have run/what proportion energy, aspects motivation songs, etc. i've got by no ability run with the different sort of mp3 participant yet i decide to propose an ipod.

I think that for running the best thing is a shuffle and there are armbands that you can use.
