It is really sad,he has a fairly new wife and a young son,he was killed by a stingray barb to the heart in Australia,I have enjoyed him a long time

You all are right!He was married 14 years and has 2 kids.So Sad!!!

Yes I found out yesterday! He was a Top Aussie! I feel for the young family he left behind...
I have caught a fair few stingrays out fishing, they are not known to be deadly (well not as much as the snakes, spiders, crocs, etc). He was very unlunky...
Crikey he made a big impact on the world! Shows what a country boy can do!

His wife isn't "fairly new"; they've been married for 14 years; he has a 8-year-old daughter, "Bindi Sue" (who would name a kid that?!!?!) and a 3-year-old son, Bob; The stingray did indeed penetrate his heart. I have also enjoyed his shows, and especially liked the Oprah! Special on him, It's a great loss.

Although I have never watched his shows, I was a fan of Steve Irwin. He was fearless in all senses of the world. He will be painfully and sorely missed.

i hope his soul is resting in peace, i really enjoyed his shows, it was real fun watching a man wrestling a crocodile!!!
I'm gona miss him, but im surprised he did not die because of a crocodile...
