I'm travelling to Goa for a 2 week holiday in November, looking at the Visa application I need the names and addresses of 2 referee's in India.

How do I do this when I don't know anyone who lives there?

I called up about this today as we are visiting in October. If you are a UK resident you can download the forms from www.hcilondon.net. But make sure you download the tourist visa application. It does require you to have the addresses of 2 people referees but i'm sure you can put your hotel. It costs £30 and will take about 3 weeks to process if you are doing it by post or you can visit the department in central london and they will usually do it on the same day. THey are only open from 8am to 12.30pm though.

I have been on a number of occassions and have never completed that section. You need to complet it for a busines visa, not a tourst one. Just send it of or take it down to the embassy and it will be fine. If you go down to get the visa arrive an hour earlier than they open and you will be out by 10am, otherwise it could take all day.
Have fun

You should contact your region office.

Mine is Chicago so I'll give you that information.

For visa, you may contact the concerned officers on their direct telephone lines in case of any inconvenience. These direct lines are 312-595-0413 ( Vice Consul ) and 312-595-0414 ( Consul ).

Just pulled up the forms as I have to apply for my son. I'm thinking one refrence India and one refrence USA. I don't know how you are to get a refrence in India.

I would call them and ask them. That is strange...and I'm sure there is an option for people who don't have a refrence there. Plenty of people visit without knowing anyone in India!

If you book the hotel first and take the reservation documents with you for applying visa you will not require any references from India. It may vary from which country you are applying from.

You can Book the hotel online or you can search for hotels in goa and some good hotel sites. book it and come... INDIA IS WAITING

I havent had to do this since 1996, but I think you need to read the paperwork more closely. Are you sure you are not trying to fill in a section of the form that is not applicable to you?

Sorry, not much help.

In my experience they don't usually bother too much with this, I have always put down the address of the hotel where I'll be staying and left the 2nd one blank - never had any problems
