He is 14 years old, 6ft 2ins, UK size 11 feet and well built, is he still growing ?

Do they go through another growth spurt and when do their brains catch up with their boddies ?

I get a bit worried because grown men think he is a grown man and treat his as such, his brain hasnt caught up with him and he gets into all sorts of fights.

A 32 year old bloke had a go at him the other day all I could do was stand and scream at him saying he is only 14. I don't know what he said but it got this bloke really annoyed really quick.

I read recently that boys go through 2 growth spurts - one at around 13-14 years and the other at around 17. I'm sure either his mother or father (or both) are tall so you should expect him to be tall.

Unfortunately the brain doesn't catch up until later. You'll probably realise that one minute he seems very mature then the next he seems like a kid. This is normal. It's tough for you but it's also tough for him. Give him the support he needs and I'm sure he'll turn out to be an adult you can be proud of.

Yes he is still growing. My brother was 6ft 3inches tall at 14yrs with size 12 feet. He's now 28yrs old and is the same height but has broadened out a bit. On average boys still grow until about 23-25yrs of age. Dont worry he'll soon learn how to fight back stupid morons like that 32yr old who had a go at him.

He will keep growing until hes 18 and mentally he is constantly developing.

He should not be taken on the role of an older male and should enjoy what childhood he has left.

Maybe try to get into contact with others in the same boat so he can discuss his emotions and anger.

You sound like a good parent, keep going

Yes i,m afraid he is still growing. I,m still waiting for our 20 year old daughters brain to catch up i'm afraid. Teach your son what gets peoples backs up and that because of his size he needs to be really careful what he says to others. He may be only 14 but that doesnt mean he should be rude or offensive to other people.

dear worried mommy,
at 14 your son is more than 6 ft..... that is something to think about.normally average boys starts growing from 13 but at a steady phase and rapid growth at about 16,17,18.Brains also mature as he grows but not like girls. So we can say boys grow more than their brains...lol.
If he is violent and vigorous in his behaviour then it is not a good sign. There are some medical conditions that closely resemble your sons growth and odd behaviour(aggressive) like ,SUPER MALE(Extra Y chromosome),GIGANTISM(EXCESSIVE GROWTH HORMONE IN CHILDREN).what can be done is sit and talk to him as early as possible about his behaviour and tell him in a way he understands and the consequenses of his behaviour,if you dont you will be talking to him behind the bars in the long run. That must be scary hah...... dont worry a part of him always listens to mommy if you tell him.I also suggest that you take him to a doctor for his physical exam and tell your concerns to your doctor and he will let you know if there is a medical problem.if not your big boy is as normal as possible only with a small brain and ask him to develop that too before he takes on a fight. Good luck.

yes he is my nephew is now only 16 and is 6ft 4 size 13 shoes. he has pains in his legs and the doc said it was because he is still growing. unfortunatley the only way to help is to try and make him a bit more street wise and dont let him play up with his height my nephew thought he would be smart and try to get into local pubs we soon put that out of him.

At this point, he is gon grow a little slow as from now on as people who tend to grow fast at an early age slow down in a short time. But don't worry about him coz he'll catch up with his m8ts soon.

He can still grow as he is only 14, but he might not grow much more. It is unfortunate as his body is mature but his brain is still immature. All you can do is warn him of his actions as he could end up in serious trouble if he shoots his mouth off at grown men.

ya, boys can continue to grow into their 20's. chances are though, he may slow down a lot now. he may only grow another inch or two. most boys have their growth spurt at about 12 to 14 years.
