i will never forget the image of steve irwin talking to the camera while sharks were in a feeding frenzy all around him while he stood in the water...the guy was a crazy kook but he was fascinating, funny and very entertaining...i kind of felt one day his luck would run out the way he took risks dealing with wildlife but i would never have guessed it would take a stingray to be the culprit....my condolences to his friends and family....he was one of a kind and his legacy will continue as his shows run on animal planet

People are not getting so upset. True he died doing something he loved but it is shamed that he did actually "DIE" doing it. He had a passion for wildlife. We are sad about his loss but more because of what he has left behind. Two small children that I am sure, loved their father. I enjoyed turning on the television and bringing his adventures into my home.

R.I.P. Crocodile Hunter
My thoughts and prayers to his family and friends and all the world that enjoyed and admired his work.

What a strange question? People are upset because he was an amazing man who was doing what he wholeheartedly believed in. He was an inspiration to many, and the irony is he was killed by a stingray (and there is only one other recorded death in this manner, so I heard on GMTV this morning) and not one of the other dangerous creatures he respected so much.
Rest in Peace Steve - you will be missed.

Actually, in a very significant way he's a lucky bloke. He lived his life on his own terms, doing what he loved, and died while pursuing his passion.

Steve Irwin had his day and lived it to the fullest. I hope I can be so lucky.

People get upset because he was an amazing man and did a lot of good work, yes he died doing what he loved best, but he had a family and friends and was an extremely well loved man in Australia and around the world, people had a lot of respect for him and when you love and respect someone you generally get upset that they will no longer be part of your life.

The only reason why he "messed" with mother nature, was to teach his audience the importance of dealing with such creatures. If he did not do it, i wouldn't have been feeling the way about the animals. he made it all seemed so simple and so easy. your children would ask you one day, and what have you done for mother nature ? please be sensitive because not everybody deals with death in the same way.
God Bless Steve Erwin and his family!

Because he was a National Treasure. Not just to Australia, but the the millions of people world wide who he inspired and taught. A great man has just died and you're asking why We're all upset?! Please think before you post... Show some compassion. He wasn't a fool, he didn't test animals for his own gain, he did it

It's sad because he was only 44 years old and a husband and father - of young children. It is also strange and ironic that a man who seemed to take lots of risks died in such an unusual way ie to a creature who doesn't normally kill man

I don't think people expect to die whatever job they have. Are you a hardened feminist who, perhaps, hasn't much time for macho types? Why did people get so upset about Princess Di Dying?
