I also like Newt. Though, admittedly, he does have some baggage from the whole Government shutdown thing of 1995 - and how he left Congress.
But Newt has a lot of interesting ideas.
McCain won't make it - he's not conservative enough. Guiliani has the same problem - though I think he's better liked by conservatives than McCain is (who spends too much time being contrary to the GOP in Congress). Hagel has no chance - he's worse than McCain.
Rice would be interesting, but I don't think she'll run.
George Allen, from Virginia looks promising - but he's a Senator - and they seem to have problems making it to the big chair.
Personally, I like Mitt Romney - but he's LDS (Mormon) - and I don't know that the country is read to elect someone who is LDS. However, he's done a pretty good job in Mass. - and still has some goodwill from the excellent job he did on the 2002 Winter Games in Salt Lake City.
What we need is a viable candidate who is a governor - and right now I don't see anybody fitting that bill.

I hope you guys run Newt, cause he's the one conservative who has no chance of winning. You're talking about a guy who divorced his wife while she had cancer, and was a democratic whipping boy for years. The democracts could run a blind horse, or even worse, Kerry again, and still beat Newt. Even his name sounds slimy and reptilian.
Unfortunatly this election the republicans aren't gonna be listening to the lunatic fringe who aren't gonna even vote anyway, so it'll definitely by McCain.

McCain or Chuck Hagel. Do you have any idea what Gingrich's personal life was like - married 3 times, served divorce papers on first 2 wives while they were in the hospital, one with cancer one with multiple sclerosis. Had BJs in car outside of political meetings...

Oh, who ever you are, I am in 100% agreement but I don't think he could win. I think if the conseratives should nominate Elizabeth Dole and then they would nominate Hillary and win in a landside based on ideas. The fact she allready served her two terms can not hut Conseritives.
