ive already added adapter and it lights up but will not get online

ok, is it XP. Try running the network setup. Did you run the software for the router in your computer? Check in Control panel; System; device manager....is anything flagged?

Need more details and I could help more.

we need to know the following (1) operating system you're using (2) what kind of networking device/router d'you have? (3) is the wireless network encrypted or secured?

if you have windows XP and an unsecured wireless router, try this: (1) Go to Control Panel >> Network Connections (2) right click the Wireless Network Icon >> Properties (3) Go to Wireless tab (4) Add a new Preferred Wireless Network - user defined (5) click on View available Wireless network button (6) Choose your router (SSID) then click on Connect.

If the above steps doesnt work for any reason or you have a different OS or a secured wireless router, email me with some info.

when you start your computer the wireless card will detect the access point nearby you so it will start automaticaly to creat a wireless connection it detect the AP name then ask you to enter the password to be able to connect to the AP then every thing will be ok
